Cory Kennedy, hipster queen

We all know 17(!) year old NYLON intern, Cory Kennedy gallavants around LA drinking, partying, hanging with Hohan and Paris with her raggedy-chic hair and perpetually heroin-addicted look on her face, dating 26 year old potentially skeevy photogs, therefore making her jailbait, but who would had thunk she had normal parents, normal houselife? Interesting article here.

And the winners are...

So, as I juggle my pre-calculus homework, I am watching the Oscars, and the fashion is lovely. I know everyone is droning on and on about old hollywood glamour, but I think it's imperative to say that the stars and the star's stylist were influenced by, well, old hollywood glamour. I'll be continually posting new pictures as the night wears on so, and Oh WOW, Andre Leon Talley is covering Oscar fashion for ABC.

Nicole Kidman in fire engine red Balenciaga

Rachel Weisz in silk charmeuse Vera Wang

Kate Winslet in drapey Armani

Rinko Kikuchi in Chanel

Beyonce in Armani

Penelope Cruz in feathery fun Versace
Jennifer Lopez in glamourous Marchesa
Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé

Jennifer Hudson in Oscar De La Renta. She's getting a lot of smack for wearing the custom made snakeskin bolero jacket, but apparently, she and ALT went to the Oscar De La Renta boutique to get a personal fitting with the man himself.

Kirsten Dunst in Chanel

Jessica Biel in fuchsia Oscar De La Renta

Naomi Watts in Escada

Gwenyth Paltrow in Zac Posen that she bought off the internet!

Hellen Mirren in custom made Christian Lacroix

Emily Blunt in Calvin Klein

Cameron Diaz in Valentino couture

And Abigail Breslin! In Manolo Blahnik shoes, although you can't see them.

A Black and White Affair

The editorial in W magazine, "Welcome to my World", shot by Mert and Marcus features Coco Rocha (elite), Snejana(DNA), Kinée Diouf (NYM) , and Denisa Dvorakova (elite paris) and the wonderful, wonderful world of pretentiousness. Chainsmoking and cocktails, masquerade balls and tiaras, oh my. and Oooh and I like the stark black and white contrast of the photography.

Too bad Snejana was absent from the Tents after those darn CFDA regulations- I wonder if she's stuffing her face to qualify for spring 08 collections.

Gareth Pugh and Prada turbans are everywhere these days, are they not?

Dollface

So, whilst I wait for that bubblegum pink Proenza Schouler lipstick collaboration with Lancome, turns out that MAC Cosmetics and Mattel have teamed up to develop a limited edition color collection. Barbie Loves MAC's collection included 80'sesque lip glosses that resemble more of a laquer, and bolder than bold eyeshadows that borderline on stripperesque. Personally, I harbor a love for excess, dramatic makeup and BARBIE! , and this collection mirrors my passions to a tee. Imagine my inner kindergartener glee when I saw that not only is MAC making Barbie makeup, they are making a doll. Oh. my. I need her to go with my Barbie dreamhouse. NOW.
This exclusive collection is only selling at MAC boutiques starting February 15.

"It took me 2 hours to get into these hooker boots"

You're Gonna Love Meeeeee!

So, I admit, I am one of the masses who loved Dreamgirls. I didn't mind the overracting, or the endless cheapshots at the Supremes, and oh lord, do I love me some Jennifer Hudson. And, it makes me so glad that she made it so big, that she made the cover of VOGUE. Sure the photography is a par below creative, but come on, it's American Vogue, what do ya expect. The annual power issue disperses from the usual overused blonde movie star on the front cover and FINALLY an African American on the cover of Vogue, and I believe the last time was Liya Kebede two long years ago.
And if Andre Leon Talley is so estatic about this dreamgirl, so am I. I bet Beyonce is seething about all this atencion taken away from her. Take that Beyonce, you ain't nothing but common (in the movie.)

Cheekbones Galore

Wonder why we never ever see pictures of models coking it up or drinking gallons of wine backstage or puking up the grape they had for breakfest during fashion week? Because cameras are everywhere. Backstage photos at New York Fashion Week.

Edit: Flavia, not Bette Franke at the DVF show

The New MJ

I'm still not used to the new Marc Jacobs. After that breakup with whatshisface, the one with the MJ tatoo on his arm, Marc seems like a changed man. I guess his new look reflected his new collection. But that canvas tote that is out of frame in the picture? 12 dollars at his store. Hmm.

Marchesa

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have made, I believe, THE collection of NY fashion week. Even with those Rachel Zoe gals doushing themselves in Marchesa, their sophomore collection consisted of pure class and elegance. This has definitely been a sophisticated version of their premiere collection, with all the intricate details meticulously refined. These dresses are guaranteed to be on red carpets, and sadly on Lindsay Lohan, but still, Georgina and Keren are paving their spot in la moda.

Fall Fashions

So, the shows I anticipated the most, were EXUBERANT.
now, ohlalaFirst up is Marc Jacobs, and even without the grunge and the punk, his Fall 07 collection screamed MARC. Not only were the pieces tailored to a tee and red carpet friendly, there was definitely a theme of Parisian chic looming through the models. And jewel tones are so in right.

Phillip Lim 3.1-You know that feeling when you see some so beautiful and you just want to skip in a valley of tulips? Well, anyways, this colelction gives me that feeling.
Diane Von Furstenburg- The prints, the rustling fabrics, the volume, me love long time.

I think my favorite show so far was the Lela Rose show. Fresh, fun and made for the young girl.

Lily Donaldson in something other than US Vogue...

Lily Donaldson on two covers of March i-D. Lately, Lily has been somewhat one-note, relying on her enviable sculpted face and staring blankly at the camera rather than, well, having an expression on her face. Finally, she broke out of that mold, in this fun vivid cover, and another natural beautyshot cover, thank god. And, any model on a cover is better than Paris/Beyonce/any other overexposed celebutantesingeruselessstarlet on a magazine cover. Now, back to the superbowl...

Fashion Week LIVE!!!

As Fall fashions are unveiled in New York right now, I came upon the chance to view the collections myself. Turn out that NY fashion week is coming to San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston. with the infamous Naomi Campbell and Gemma Ward taking hosting duties. Flocks of IMG models and champagne are going to flow on the runway and the after party. Downside is that the tickets are at the lowest, 500 dollars for backrow seats. Sophie's choice here for me: Should I go and see Gemma and Naomi and Freja and Lily Donaldson in a once in a lifetime opportunity, or save that cash and watch it on Youtube instead with a box of hohos to accompany me? This is difficult.
